Karla Weng Karla Weng, MPH is the Rural Program Area Lead for Stratis Health. In that role she provides expertise to a variety of Stratis Health initiatives focused on rural providers and communities. Karla has worked on a wide variety of efforts supporting rural hospitals and providers improve quality and patient safety including development of palliative care services, implementation of quality management methods, improving patient safety culture, preventing readmissions, and clinical quality efforts on topics such heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. Karla also directed Stratis Health's rural QIO Support Center work from 2005-2008, acting as a national resource expert for Medicare quality improvement organizations on quality and patient safety issues for rural hospitals.

Karla is adjunct faculty for the University of Minnesota - Crookston for Health Policy. She has a Masters Degree in Public Health Administration from the University of Minnesota, an undergraduate degree in Community Health Education from Minnesota State University - Moorhead, and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). She is on the board of the Minnesota Rural Health Association, and was a 2008 National Rural Health Association Fellow
