Tom Vaughn

Thomas Vaughn, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Health Management and Policy department in the University of Iowa College of Public Health. Dr. Vaughn earned a Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan and served as an assistant administrator in two different hospitals. He returned to the University of Michigan to earn his doctorate in Health Services Organization and Management. His research focuses on how health care organizations implement changes that support improving health care quality, the role of hospital boards and senior leadership in improving quality, and how to improve team work in health care organizations. His research on teams has been conducted primarily in Critical Access Hospitals. His current interests include how Accountable Care Organizations serve rural communities and addressing alternative approaches to meeting the needs of rural communities for health care services. |
